siamo felici di annunciare il secondo incontro del ciclo AVI TALKS, promosso da Auroville International Italia E.T.S. — un nuovo spazio dedicato al dialogo, alla condivisione e alla diffusione di progetti che promuovono l’educazione integrale e la crescita sostenibile.
In questo appuntamento la nostra Presidente, Tara Rosa Eleonora Percesepe, presenterà Bridget Horkan, Co-founder di Thamarai Educational Projects India, insieme al suo team.

Durante l’intervista, Bridget racconterà l’esperienza e l’evoluzione del progetto Thamarai — “lotus flower” in tamil — che incarna i valori del pieno potenziale umano e del benessere per persone e pianeta. Dal 2006 Thamarai opera nei villaggi vicini all’International Township di Auroville attraverso una rete di iniziative educative formali e informali: due doposcuola che accolgono 120 bambini, un programma di educazione alla salute naturale, attività per il benessere fisico e ambientale, sport, oltre a percorsi di leadership e sviluppo comunitario.
Nel contesto dei loro 14 anni di servizio per bambini e giovani, il lavoro di Thamarai si è rivelato un prezioso sostegno in risposta alle difficoltà del sistema scolastico basato sull’apprendimento mnemonico, alle carenze nelle abilità di alfabetizzazione e a problematiche sociali come indebitamento e dipendenze. Thamarai continua a creare un ambiente favorevole affinché i bambini possano esprimersi in modo creativo e responsabile, migliorando al contempo la loro curva di apprendimento e le loro competenze di vita.

Dear friends and members,
We are delighted to announce the second meeting of the AVI TALKS series, promoted by Auroville International Italia E.T.S. — a new space dedicated to dialogue, exchange, and the exploration of projects that promote integral education and sustainable growth.
In this session, our President, Tara Rosa Eleonora Percesepe, will introduce Bridget Horkan,
Co-founder of Thamarai Educational Projects India, together with her team.
During the interview, Bridget will share the story and evolution of the Thamarai project — “lotus flower” in Tamil — which embodies the values of human potential and well-being for people and planet. Since 2006, Thamarai has been working with the villages surrounding the International Township of Auroville through a wide range of formal and informal educational initiatives: two after-school programs hosting 120 children, a natural health care education and well-being service, environmental and sports activities, as well as community leadership and capacity-building programs.
Throughout their 14 years of service with children and youth, Thamarai’s work has offered essential support in response to challenges such as rote-based schooling, inadequate literacy skills, and social issues including debt and addiction. Thamarai continues to create an enabling environment where children can be creative, expressive, and responsible, while improving their learning curve and life skills.
